WWDC 2023: When can I download iOS 17 on my iPhone?

Apple announced the long-awaited upgrade to iOS 16 at its WorldWide Developer Conference 2023 (WWDC). The new operating system brings updates to Phone, FaceTime and Messages application. It makes sharing easier with AirDrop and offers smarter input that improves typing speed and accuracy. iOS 17 also introduces new experiences with Journal, an app that makes it easy to practice gratitude, and StandBy, a new way to view information when iPhone is idle and charging.

Apple’s Senior Vice President (Software Engineering) while speaking about the new iPhone operating system said, “With iOS 17, we’ve made iPhone more personal and intuitive by deeply considering the features we all rely on every day,”

When will iOS 17 be available to download:

Apple has been consistent with the release dates of all its new operating systems over the past few years. iOS 16 was released on 12 September, while iOS 15 was released on 20 September. If Apple follows its usual practice, the new iOS 17 should be available for download around mid-September. iOS launches are also closely followed by the company’s launch of new iPhones. There was a gap of just 5 days between the launch of iOS 15 and the iPhone 14 range.

However, even before Apple releases the full operating system to its users, there will be a lot of beta releases of iOS 17, which should start around mid-June.

Here’s the likely release schedule for iOS 17:

– Apple has already announced the first developer beta at its WWDC 2023 event.

– First public beta of iOS 17 could be released in July 2023

– A series of public and developer betas could be released between June and September 2023

– iPhone 15 line-up expected to be announced in early September

– iOS 17 could be released around mid-September
