World Wrestling Entertainment has signed a deal to develop a new wrestling game which will soon be revealed officially. The upcoming game will be an official role-playing wrestling game. According to a report by EuroGamer, this new wrestling RPG was revealed at the company’s latest earnings call. WWE’s chief brand manager Stephanie McMahon addressed that 80% of its audience are gamers. The company considers gaming a priority and is willing to expand that division with this new RPG. In other gaming news, EA has signed a new deal with Middle-earth Enterprises to develop a new Lord of the Rings game for mobile devices.

McMahon has revealed some tiny details about the game by saying WWE has “recently signed a new deal in the role-playing game space that will be announced soon.” However, she made it clear that the upcoming RPG game will be entirely different from the mainline WWE series that is developed by 2K Games.
She confirmed the upcoming game while discussing the company’s video game business. So, the upcoming game can be expected to be an RPG video game instead of being a tabletop RPG.

The latest game in the mainline series is the WWE 2K22 which was released in March. The series was relaunched after it was forced to take a year’s break due to the disastrous launch of 2K20. McMahon has also mentioned that this tactic has proved to be very successful for the franchise.
She also said, “After taking a little more than a year off to improve the game engine, we worked hand in glove with our partners at Take-Two Interactive, listened to our customers and fans, and earned back their trust by delivering a game that exceeded their expectations. WWE 2K22 was a commercial and critical success, with the highest Metacritic scores on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms in franchise history, with over 5.6m hours viewed on Twitch to date.”
McMahon also commented that the rest of WWE’s gaming division also appeared to be doing well as both SuperCard and Champions continue to deliver strong performances.

WWE is not going to be the only wrestling franchise in the video gaming industry as another franchise is set to enter the market. Recently, AEW announced the title of its new game — AEW Fight Forever and the game will also include two new playable wrestlers.
