Xavier Woods returns to in-ring action after injury

The reigning WWE King of the Ring Xavier Woods made his in-ring return this week.

King Woods was last seen in action on the January 7 episode of SmackDown where he competed with New Day member Kofi Kingston in a Street Fight against the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos. During the match, he tore a plantaris muscle in his lower leg. Woods himself had reported that he picked up the injury when he hit a DDT outside the ring.

King Woods made his return to the ring at a live event in Jackson, Mississippi, this Saturday. Woods teamed with Kofi Kingston in a triple-threat tag team match that also included the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos and the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland. The Usos held their own in the match and managed to retain the titles.

Xavier Woods’ return came just a day after fellow New Day Member Big E was injured on SmackDown. The former WWE Champion suffered the impact of a botched belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland outside the ring. This led to him being stretchered out of the arena. Big E later confirmed that he had suffered a broken neck but did not require surgery.

Soon after Big E’s injury, wishes started pouring in from fans and superstars alike. Big E also mentioned that he was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support for him.

King Woods also took to social media to inform fans that he met with Big E and that the Powerhouse of Positivity was in good spirits.
