Xbox Series X and S Are Market Leaders in Current-Gen Consoles According to Microsoft
Xbox Series X and S are direct competitors for the next-gen console, PlayStation 5. For the most time, PlayStation 5 was the dominant leader in terms of sales and units sold, but recently, reports came stating that Xbox Series X and S sales have almost caught up to the number that PlayStation 5 was at.
Now according to the latest report in Microsoft FY22 Third Quarter Earnings Conference Call, between Brett Iversen, Satya Nadella, Amy Hood, it was stated that the Xbox Series X and S were market leaders in terms of next-gen console sales in U.S., Canada, U.K., and Western Europe for this quarter. Check out what was stated by Satya Nadella regarding Xbox Series X in the conference call below:
Our ambition is to empower gamers to play when, how, and where they want. With our Xbox Series S and X consoles, we have taken share globally for two quarters in a row and we are the market leader this quarter among next gen consoles in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Western Europe. And with Xbox Cloud Gaming, we are redefining how games are distributed, played, and viewed.
To date, more than 10 million people have streamed games. Many of our most popular titles, including Flight Simulator, are now accessible on phones, tablets, and low-spec PCs for the first time. Our Game Pass library now includes hundreds of titles across PC and console, including more games from third party publishers than ever before. Billions of hours have been played by subscribers over the past 12 months, up 45 percent.
Both Xbox Series X and S and the PlayStation 5 have been dealing with issues related to production since the announcement of the consoles. These limitations towards the supply of the consoles has caused the sales to be significantly lower than expected. There are many players that wish to get one of the next-gen consoles for themselves, but due to the limited availability, it is hard for them to get their hands on it.
