Xbox Teases Fable Appearance At Upcoming Showcase

An official Xbox social media account has teased that the upcoming Xbox Showcase–one of the cornerstones of Summer Game Fest and this year’s Not-E3 festivities–could feature the first update for the Fable reboot in nearly three years.

A short video posted on the official Xbox Twitter shows an unseen person sitting down to play Xbox, only to discover the controller is covered in glitter. The camera then moves through the home as it follows a trail of glitter, which leads to a computer screen displaying the Xbox Showcase logo.

For those unfamiliar with the Fable games, a trail of glitter served as a guide for players to find their next mission marker. As such, this video seems to heavily imply the appearance of the Fable reboot–which is currently being developed by Forza Horizon devs Playground Games–at next month’s event.

If it does make an appearance, this would be the first time we’ve seen any updates on the new Fable project since the July 2020 Xbox Showcase. There, a short teaser video showed a fairy flying through a dense forest, only to become food for a bullfrog by the end.

We’ll know for sure what Xbox has in store when the Xbox Showcase kicks off on June 11 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. One game we know for sure will be shown is Starfield, Starfield, though it’s technically in a separate show after the Xbox Showcase. Microsoft has confirmed a Starfield Direct presentation is planned to air immediately following its other event.
