Xiaomi 12, the smartphone that is expected to be the next flagship smartphone from the Chinese consumer technology giant. If you are wondering if there is no “Mi” branding then that’s because, just this month the company decided to ditch the Mi branding for its premium handsets.
Now, a report by Digital Chat Station has claimed that the Xiaomi 12 smartphone may feature three 50MP sensors on the back. The report adds that the Xiaomi 12 will house a main sensor, an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto sensor.
This is set to be a major improvement as compared to the predecessor — Mi 11 Ultra — as that features a 48MP periscope lens.
Previous leaks about the Xiaomi 12 suggest that the handset may feature a new LPDDR5X memory, which was recently announced. It has a maximum data transfer rate of 6,400Mbps to 8,533Mbps, which is double of what LPDDR4X is said to deliver.
Mi branding dropped
Xiaomi launched the first ‘Mi’ branded smartphone ten years ago, which will now be dropped. The first devices with the new branding were actually the Mix 4 smartphone and the Pad 5 tablet series.
“This change will unify our global brand presence and close the perception gap between the brand and its products. This change may take some time to take effect in all regions. With introducing the new brand identity, two distinct product series will sit beneath the parent brand. Xiaomi products represent the pinnacle of technology and offer a premium experience. Redmi products bring big innovation at a more accessible price point and are aimed at a younger audience. This differentiation is also reflected in our updated logos, with both the Xiaomi and Redmi logotypes under the parent brand logo. The product series naming convention — Xiaomi and Redmi — will also be applied to our ecosystem and IoT products over time,” had said Xiaomi.
