Xiaomi is bringing back this affordable premium smartphone series to India after 3 years: When is it launching and what we know – Times of India
After weeks of anticipation, Xiaomi finally announced that it is bringing back the fan favourite Redmi K series to India after a long gap of three years. The last K series smartphones to launch in India were the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro. Now, after three years, a new K series smartphone coming to India, which is none other than the much-rumoured Redmi K50i. The new smartphone from the Redmi is said to be a rebranded version of of its own Redmi Note 11T Pro+ – launched in China earlier this year. Here’s everything we know about Redmi’s upcoming K-series smartphone – the Redmi K50i.
Redmi K50i: What to expect?

Redmi India today shared a teaser showing off the blue colour of the Redmi K50i – having a triple camera setup on the back – exactly similar to the blue colourway of the Redmi Note 11T Pro+. We can expect both smartphones to share the same specifications and features. Further, the Redmi K50i might be priced similarly to the Redmi Note 11T Pro+, so chances are that it would be an upper mid-range smartphone.
The Redmi K50i could feature a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Furthermore, the display might come with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision playback. The display on the Redmi Note 11T Pro+ has a peak brightness of 650 nits, so we can expect the same from the K50i’s LCD panel.
Under the hood, the K50i would be powered by the Dimensity 8100 chipset – a 5nm chipset from Mediatek with 5G capabilities. Further, the smartphone might with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. We expect the Redmi K50i to run MIUI 13 on top of Android 13. The smartphone might boast a 4,400mAh battery with support for Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge fast charging technology.
As for the cameras, the Redmi K50i will come with a triple camera setup. The triple rear camera setup would consist of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide snapper with a 120-degree field-of-view and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, it could feature a 16MP sensor for selfies.
There is no word on the pricing yet, but we expect it to be priced at around Rs 25,000 in India.
