Yes, Metroid Prime 2 And 3 Are Reportedly Still Coming To Switch

Metroid Prime Remastered surprise-launched for Nintendo Switch earlier this month. But notably absent were the other two games in the Samus Aran trilogy, which have been rumored to arrive on the system too.

Those two games–Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption–should still be coming to Switch at some point, according to Jeff Grubb of GameSpot’s sister site Giant Bomb. That said, he recently restated on Twitter that they won’t boast the same visual improvements as Metroid Prime Remastered.

Back in June, Grubb initially reported on Metroid Prime Trilogy coming to Switch. He stated updated control schemes are possible with 2 and 3, similar to what’s seen in Metroid Prime Remastered. But the sequels won’t receive quite the same overhaul. It’s also unknown whether they’ll be released separately or as a combo package.

Nintendo shadow-dropped Metroid Prime Remastered last week on February 8 for $40. A physical edition of the game comes out February 22 for the same price. It’s the first time the GameCube title has been re-released since Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii debuted in 2009. The same is true for Echoes and Corruption, by the way.

After all this time, Metroid Prime Remastered remains a revelation, per GameSpot’s Steven Petite. He says the game “remains as fresh and inventive today as it did at launch.”
