YouTube reportedly down for thousands of users – Times of India

YouTube is reportedly facing a global outage. According to Downdetector, the website which tracks all the major outages globally has reported that YouTube users across the globe are facing issues in accessing the video streaming platform.
“User reports indicate Youtube is having problems since 9:17 PM EDT. http://downdetector.com/status/youtube/ RT if you’re also having problems #Youtubedown”, Downdetector tweeted.

Users also took to Twitter to complain about the YouTube outage. YouTube started facing issues around 5.30 am today (April 11). The reason behind the outage is still not known. Some users complained that YouTube is not loading for them.
Here are some of the tweets in which users complained about the outage

YouTube issued a warning for users
Recently, an email scam has prompted YouTube to issue a warning to its users. The popular video streaming platform cautioned users about an ongoing email phishing scam and posted a message on Twitter to alert them. The tweet read: “We have received reports of a phishing attempt with no-reply@youtube.com as the sender. Please be careful and do not download or access any files if you receive this email…” The fraudulent email contains a video link claiming to provide information on changes to YouTube’s policies, with the description “Check the description.” If you receive this email, it is likely a scam.
For the uninitiated, phishing is a deceitful tactic that entails sending fraudulent emails that mimic communications from reputable companies or trustworthy sources, often in an attempt to obtain sensitive information like login credentials. The ultimate goal of phishing is to gain access to websites and personal data.
