Zack Snyder Cites Two Shows As Proof That TV Is Riskier Than Films
Zack Snyder has claimed that shows like Euphoria and Squid Games have shown how much riskier TV shows are when compared to movies. Zack Snyder is best known as the orchestrator and director of DC’s ‘SnyderVerse’ movies.
Synder cited both shows when putting forth his opinion recently on the Pizza Film School podcast (via The Playlist). The Pizza Film School podcast is hosted by Anthony and Joe Russo (Russo Brothers).
The Russo Brothers are the famous duo behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I think we’re in a real golden age of TV in the sense that TV shows are much better at showing you something that you’ve never seen before or catching you off balance or making a turn that you didn’t see coming…They’re way riskier,” said Synder.
He then name-dropped Euphoria as one of those shows. He added, “‘Euphoria,’ for instance, I was just watching the show is just unbelievable. That show shouldn’t exist; it’s so good. And that’s the kind of thing I watch that show and go, ‘This movie would never get made; this movie can’t exist.'”
Euphoria Season 3 is currently under production and filming is expected to begin soon. However, there’s no official release date announced by HBO yet.
Euphoria stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie among other talented actresses and actors.
Snyder also highlighted Squid Games as one of those shows. Zack Snyder said, “You could imagine ‘Squid Games’ coming here as a movie would be an arthouse [thing], maybe. ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Squid Game’ take you to places where you have no idea where you are going or what’s happening, and I think that’s what people want.”
