Pre-Match Analysis:
Zimbabwe were put under immense pressure for the first time in the tournament by Oman and they still triumphed by 14 runs. The hosts are inching closer to getting a World Cup ticket for India and just need a win to make it to the main event after 2015. Sean Williams again rose to the occasion and bought up his 3rd century in this Qualifier and the bowlers held their nerves later to claim their fifth straight win. Richard Ngarava deserves special appreciation for his bowling efforts in this tournament as he moved to 2nd place in the leading wicket-takers list with 12 scalps. The crowds are right behind them which is the biggest motivating factor for the hosts.
Sri Lanka had the heart in their mouth in the last game against the Netherlands and was finally relieved when they won the game by 21 runs after toiling extremely hard. They were reeling at 4 for 34 that’s when Dhananjaya de Silva came in and played a rescue act to take the side for a respectable total of 213. He got dismissed falling just 7 runs short of his maiden ODI century. Spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga shared 5 wickets between them to restrict the Dutch to 192 runs. With the kind of balance they have, it’s quite difficult for the opposition to beat them.
