Dorsey in a tweet said had words of praise for Twitter employees. “Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment,” he said in a tweet. However, he said that he also apologises for the situation most Twitter employees find themselves in. “I realise many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologise for that.”
The former CEO of Twitter further said the the is grateful to all employees and said that he understands if that feeling won’t be mutual. “I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don’t expect that to be mutual in this moment…or ever…and I understand,” said Dorsey.

Meanwhile, Musk in a tweet explained his rationale behind sacking almost 50% of the workforce. The new owner of Twitter said that the company had no choice as it was bleeding money. “Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day,” he said in a tweet.
He also explained that everyone who was let had been offered a severance package. “Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required,” he said in the same tweet.
