Pre-Match Analysis:
With monumental innings from Martin Guptill and an even exceptional show from the bowlers, Quetta Gladiators got the first points on the table with 6 run win over Karachi Kings. At one point, they were reduced to 23 for 4 and later Martin Guptill and Iftikhar Ahmed added 69 run-stand for the 5th wicket to get themselves back in the game with the former going on to score a sensational 117 runs from just 67 balls. The bowlers were accurate and defended the tricky 168 runs successfully in the end. The batting looks shaky as premier batters Umar Akmal and Sarfaraz Ahmed have yet to produce their best performances. Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, and Odean Smith will form the pace battery.
Peshawar Zalmi flopped in all facets of the game against Multan Sultans and lost convincingly by 56 runs. They conceded a whopping 210 runs and in return only managed to score 154 runs with youngsters Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris scoring the bulk of the runs. Babar Azam and Tom Kohler Cadmore who hit half-centuries each against Karachi Kings departed for single digits against Multan Sultans which cost the match. Wahab Riaz needs to deliver with the ball on a consistent basis.
