Amazon: Amazon to tell users if the product they bought is “frequently returned” – Times of India
According to a report by The Information, buyers will see a warning label “frequently returned” on products that are returned because of poor quality or any other reason. The idea is for customers to check the product details before actually buying it.
“We’re currently showing return rate information on some product detail pages to help our customers make more informed purchase decisions,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Information.
It’s not clear whether the label will be displayed across regions or if it is only US-specific as of now. We did check on the Amazon India website on a variety of products but couldn’t spot the label.
Amazon makes sales data public
Recently, Amazon also revealed that Amazon is testing a new product label that highlights how many sales it has had recently. For example, “100K+ bought in past month.” “The sales number is rounded to hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands and is capped at one hundred thousand; the time range is either a week or a month,” Amazon said in a blog post. The change is a test visible to some users. Amazon hosts many of those at any given time, and some never make it past the testing phase. Amazon’s new sales metric doesn’t replace them, but the tools will likely start ingesting it to improve accuracy.
Amazon said that “Seeing how many other shoppers bought the product makes buying from an unrecognizable brand easier. AliExpress, Temu, and some others have a near-identical feature.”
