Apple AR/VR headset’s display specs tipped online – Times of India

Apple is set to host its annual developer conference, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023 on June 5. As tradition dictates, this event serves as a platform for the Cupertino-based tech giant to unveil its latest software developments. However, this year, Apple fans are in for an extra treat, as rumors suggest the company may also introduce new hardware, including the much-speculated AR/VR headset. Now a new leak has surfaced online revealing some more details about the yet-to-launch mixed reality headset.
Apple AR/AR headsets’ likely display specifications
According to analyst Ross Young, Apple is expected to include dual displays in its upcoming mixed reality headset. As per the leak, each display on the headset is said to measure 1.41-inch diagonally. Also the brightness level of the displays is tipped to exceed up to 5000 nits. The pixel density will be around 4000 pixels per inch.
As per Young, 5000 nits brightness is the peak brightness level. The high level of brightness will offer superior quality colours and contrast. Also the bright displays of the headset will offer an impressive viewing experience.
Apple headsets may have an external display
According to a recent online report, Apple’s upcoming wearable mixed-reality headset is set to include an external display. This unique feature aims to keep users connected to the real world by showcasing their eye movements and facial expressions on the external screen. Apple sees this as a significant advantage over other enclosed VR headset models, emphasising the importance of human interaction. By enabling people to engage with users without the impersonal feel of conversing with a machine, the external display is expected to be a key differentiating factor for Apple’s headset.
Rumours suggest that the upcoming Apple AR/VR headset may include a separate battery pack which is expected to be attached by a power cord. The headset is likely to work as an external Mac monitor that may help users to join group video calls.
Apple is also reportedly working with developers and other entertainment companies to create content for the device once it goes official. However, Gurman also mentioned that the company’s much-anticipated augmented reality (AR) glasses are still at least four years away from being available.
The company is yet to share official details about the Reality Pro headset. Reports suggest that the upcoming product is likely to come powered by the Apple M2 chipset and will be backed by 16GB RAM.
