Krafton has announced that 48,847 player accounts were permanently banned between January 10th to January 16th, 2022. The developer has promised that it will “strive to implement strong sanctions with the ultimate goal of eradicating the use of illegal programs in order to provide you a pleasant gaming environment.”
The developer has also shared a list of permanently banned accounts. Krafton is taking issues with cheating in BGMI quite seriously as the team has already begun handing out hardware bans for cheaters. As banned players can simply create a new account to play BGMI, device bans will ban the mobile device of cheaters altogether. PC games like Valorant have already implemented hardware bans using Vanguard anti-cheat software. With permanent device bans in place, the instances of cheating in BGMI will hopefully reduce in the coming months.
In other BGMI news, the game has recently received a new update that brings Spider-Man: No Way Home crossover. The crossover brings Spider-Man-themed elements to BGMI’s Erangel and Livik maps. Players can also shoot webs and fight a boss alongside Spider-Man in BGMI. Along with these, players get access to new supply shops on Erangel and Livik, which allow them to purchase supplies using in-game currency they find on the map.
