Fantasy TE Rankings Week 10: Who to start, sit at tight end in fantasy football

Finding the right tight end streamer can give you an advantage in any week, and since the fantasy playoffs will be here before you know it, we have to continue working on identifying the best TE matchups. Of course, if you just have a consistent every-week starter, you won’t have many problems. Our Week 10 fantasy TE rankings welcome back familiar face Logan Thomas to the top tier and highlight some potential sleepers at this thin position.

Thomas is available in roughly 47 percent of Yahoo leagues after missing several games because of a hamstring injury. The fact he’s been so heavily dropped is a perfect example of how you can take advantage of opportunities provided by impatient owners. Thomas was a top-seven tight end in all formats last year, and although he wasn’t spectacular early this season, it was a small sample size. Pick him up now and play him right away. His matchup with Tampa Bay should mark a great start to the rest of his season. Not all players coming off of a bye warrant their own paragraph, but there’s a potential top-five TE just sitting on many waiver wires.

WEEK 10 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | D/ST | Kicker

It’s also worth noting T.J. Hockenson (@ Steelers) and Rob Gronkowski (@ Washington) are back from byes (assuming Gronk’s back is healthy). The only halfway-significant bye-week loss is C.J. Uzomah, so we’re in good shape in Week 10 (especially since we don’t have to worry about the always-inconsistent Evan Engram).

WEEK 10 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

For the first time this season (and probably a few years), an active Travis Kelce (@ Raiders) isn’t in our No. 1 spot. Obviously, you’re still starting him, but it’s worth noting the “historic” moment. Hockenson (@ Steelers) and George Kittle (vs. Rams) are probably the only two must-starts with concerning matchups, but they will still be in lineups. Dallas Goedert (@ Broncos), and Zach Ertz (@ Panthers) have been on the edge of the must-start territory, but they’re in rough spots this week against stellar TE defenses. Still, they also have high enough ceilings to warrant being used in most situations.

The most attractive streamers this week are Pat Freiermith (vs. Lions), Tyler Conklin (@ Chargers), and Dan Arnold (@ Colts). Indianapolis and Los Angeles are among the eight worst defenses against fantasy TEs, so Arnold and Conklin should have plenty of opportunities to produce. Detroit has statistically been OK against the position, but Freiermuth is beginning to look like a featured weapon in the Pittsburgh passing game and Detroit has given up at least 50 yards and/or a touchdown to four-of-eight primary tight ends they’ve faced. We don’t think the Steelers’ offense is explosive enough to put this game out of reach early, so expect a bunch of Big Ben pass attempts.

There simply aren’t a lot of favorable matchups for middle-of-the-pack TEs this week, so even if you have a stud with a bad matchup, you’re probably better off sticking with them. Simply put, trust the easy calls and obvious streamers, and let other owners worry about playing a TD-or-bust waiver pickup.

Note: We’ll be updating these TE rankings throughout the week, so check back for the latest player movement and analysis.
