Fortnite: Resident Evil Characters Arrive on the Island as Heinz Introduces ‘SOS Tomatoes’ Map and More

Fortnite is known for its numerous collaborations. One of the most notable ones when the title brought over hunters from all gaming universes, and we saw the characters from Halo, God of War, Metroid and more enter Fortnite Island. Now, Fortnite has collaborated with Resident Evil, as the fourth iteration’s remake releases on March 24.

Through the collaboration, Resident Evil’s two of the most famous characters, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, have arrived in Fortnite. Players will be able to get these characters from the Fortnite Item Shop for the price of 1500 V-Bucks for each skin. Along with the skin, they will also get the respective Back Blings and harvesting tools for the characters.

Heinz launched ‘SOS Tomatoes’ campaign in Fortnite

Heinz is trying to bring awareness of soil degradation to the world, and it has chosen to bring this message to the gamers first with the help of Fortnite. The company has created a brand-new island in the game, which is inspired by its own tomato farms around the world. This island has a special mechanic, which makes The Storm Circle close in faster than it normally would.

The shrinking zone will depict how soil health is declining at a rapid rate. Fortunately, in their fight against soil degradation, Heinz will help protect more than 1600 football pitches worth of soil. This island also “demonstrates just some of the sustainable and regenerative practices that Heinz supports in the real world.” To join the island, players can use the island code 1877-1435-6432.

FTC fines Fortnite $245 million

As reported earlier, the FTC had charged Fortnite with usage of dark patterns to trick players into making unintended purchases. This was being done through “counterintuitive, inconsistent, and confusing button configuration”. Fortnite has accepted to pay a sum of $245 million to the affected individuals. The FTC will then be responsible for using this money to provide refunds to the gamers.

There are three criteria in order to be eligible for the refund: Players should have made an unauthorised purchase on the Epic Games Store between January 2017 and November 2018. Secondly, players should have been charged with in-game currency for unwanted in-game items between January 2017 and September 2022 and thirdly, if players’ accounts were locked between January 2017 and September 2022.
