Gears of War: New Coalition Job Listing Suggests That a New Title Is in Works for the Popular Shooter Franchise

For the longest of time, fans of Gears of War have been waiting to hear whether developers Coalition have any intention to expand the franchise anytime soon.

So far, the Vancouver-based game studio has announced a collaboration with streaming platform Netflix for a Gears-based live-action film, animated TV series, and more. However, not much has been shared about any plans on the gaming side of things.

Recently, however, some rumour mills have suggested that Coalition might be working on returning to the series. Last month, industry insider Jeff Grubb reported about Coalition’s next project being Gears 6.

And that report might end up being true, as pointed out by a new job listing from Coalition. The job in question is for the position of Senior Gameplay Designer at the company’s studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. The description for the position reveals plans for a new Gears game.

“We are the official home of the Gears of War franchise, and our objective is to forge the future of the IP and push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices,” reads the job listing on the website of Coalition’s parent company, Microsoft Xbox.

The details don’t reveal whether Coalition’s next project will be Gears 6, and it’s very likely that the developers might be working on a remake. However, the listing confirms that fans of the Gears franchise will have something new to try out in the near future.
