Gotham Knights Star ‘Incredibly Bummed’ By Show Cancellation

Gotham Knights star Misha Collins said he’s “incredibly bummed” after finding out the DC superhero show has been canceled.

In a recent Instagram post, the actor lamented not being able to explore his villain arc further.

“Just got back on the grid after unplugging for a week to hear the news that Gotham Knights was canceled by The CW and won’t be able to find a new home,” he said. “I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my ‘villain arc’ but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.”

Collins played Harvey Dent, the iconic DC character who goes on to become Two-Face. However, in Gotham Knights, the character hadn’t yet earned his disfigured visage, and while the district attorney was clearly troubled by an alternate persona, he hadn’t quite lived up to his true villainous potential.

“I’m especially proud that our story about fighting the good fight also gave us opportunities to tell diverse and inclusive stories,” said Collins. “We need more of that on screen, and while this story may not be going forward, I really believe it helped open that door a little wider for more characters from all backgrounds to shine.”

Since the show’s launch, Gotham Knights has been praised for its diversity, with LGBT representation at its heart. “Thank you, #BatBrats, for your full-throated support,” said Collins. “The show may be ending, but I know this community will keep the light shining against the darkness in the real world… Onward!”

IGN’s review of Gotham Knights gave it 4/10 and said: “Gotham Knights is a thoroughly underwhelming Batman series from a network that has produced far better. With the lone exception of Misha Collins’ Harvey Dent, every main character manages to be bland and uninteresting.”
