Kevin Feige Confirms Loki and Sylvie Were Responsible for Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange 2 Events

Marvel gave fans the first tease of the multiverse with its Disney+ show Loki, which gave Tom Hiddleston to star as the leading character in the multiverse and time-hopping series.

In the show, we saw the work of the TVA with characters like Mobius preventing branches from being created in the main timeline, which prevents the formation of unstable timelines and multiverses.

However, at the end, Sylvie started the domino effect by killing off Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains, with Loki then finding himself in a new timeline, where he’s not recognized by Mobius and the TVA now being run by Kang the Conqueror.

Many fans believed that Spider-Man: No Way Home birthed the multiverse trope for Marvel, which will soon be explored in detail in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that it was He Who Remains’ death that started it all.

He talked about the huge death during the premiere for the Doctor Strange sequel, which will release in theatres around the worldwide on May 6. According to Feige:

In the end, it seems like Doctor Strange will have a hell of a lot on his plate in the upcoming sequel, thanks to Loki and Sylvie’s antics and it will be interesting to see how the sorcerer will handle all the troubles that is coming his way.
