Leeds fan goes on TV to address being snubbed by ‘selfish’ players
An eight-year-old Leeds United fan who was seemingly blanked by his heroes appeared on Good Morning Britain with his family to set the record straight this week. The Whites are in torrid form and Sunday’s dismal defeat to Bournemouth has sent them tumbling towards the Premier League relegation zone.
With every point crucial at this stage of the season, Leeds’ meeting with the Cherries on Sunday was billed as a must-win clash. Their torrid form continued at the Vitality Stadium, however, with a crushing 4-1 defeat.
Fans voiced their anger at the final whistle, and fresh criticism was sparked on Monday when footage surfaced on social media of the players leaving their team hotel before the match. Eight-year-old Dylan Wale was in camera shot waving them off, but many were left perplexed to see that the majority failed to even acknowledge him.
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan was among those to take aim after seeing the video on Twitter, calling the players ‘selfish, arrogant p****s‘. However, when the youngster appeared on TV this Tuesday, he and his family recounted a different version of events.
“Some of them waved at me and some of them didn’t,” Dylan told Good Morning Britain before his dad, John, added: “What you have got to remember is that the video is just a tiny snapshot of what happened.
“In actual fact, in the video you can see Max Wober looks like he’s blanking him but in actual fact he didn’t, he actually smiled. And we’ve got a list of players who smiled, fist-bumped, and waved.
Manager Javi Gracia, who only replaced Jesse Marsch in February, is expected to be sacked on Tuesday after overseeing a dreadful April, which saw the Whites concede more goals in a calendar month (21) than any side in the Premier League era.
Sporting director Victor Orta is also set to receive the boot, while Leeds are reportedly lining up a shock return to the English top-flight for Sam Allardyce, who will only have four matches to guide the club to safety.
