Man City’s even scarier XI for next season if Guardiola signs two more stars

Manchester City stormed to their fourth Premier League title in five years in emphatic fashion with the victory over Chelsea at the weekend marking their 12th consecutive win in the league. Arsenal pushed them closer than any other team, but City just had too much class in the end. And they could well be even more unstoppable next year if Guardiola is able to add two more high-profile signings in the summer.

Goalkeeper: Ederson

No point changing anything between the sticks as Ederson still perfectly fits the style of play Guardiola commands at the Etihad. He was guilty of making a few high-profile mistakes this season, leading to some criticism.

But the Brazilian remains one of the best in European football and still has three years remaining on his current contract.

Defence: Walker, Akanji, Dias, FERLAND MENDY

Joao Cancelo appears to have burned his bridges at City with Guardiola and a permanent replacement will be wanted by Guardiola. City’s squad coped fine without the Portuguese star with the likes of Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji filling on the left side of defence occasionally.

Guardiola will want a more natural pick though and Ferland Mendy has been linked with a move to the Etihad in recent months. It’s been reported that City will make an offer worth around £53million to test Real Madrid’s resolve.

Midfield: Rodri, De Bruyne KIMMICH

Ilkay Gundogan looks like he could be set to leave City and Guardiola will need a ready-made replacement to step in. Kalvin Phillips may be given an opportunity to step up in Gundogan’s absence having endured a difficult first campaign at the Etihad.
