Man Utd ‘have 12 players up for sale’ with Ten Hag desperate to raise £100m

Manchester United have 12 players the club are willing to sell, according to reports. Erik ten Hag is desperate to raise funds to make further signings of his own in the summer transfer window.

Mason Mount is the only new face through the door so far at Old Trafford. He will cost a fee of up to £60million, half of United’s budget.

Financial Fair Play restrictions mean United only have £120m to spend. They want to sign a new goalkeeper, with Andre Onana the top target, as well as a striker.

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen were both the top targets for Ten Hag. But he has had to adjust his ambition in the market due to the club’s financial situation.

Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund is now the No 1 option in attack but moves for both him and Onana would take United’s spending to around £150m. Therefore, they will need to sell as many unwanted players as they can to raise further funds.

The Mail says there are a dozen players United are open to selling. The Red Devils believe they can get up to £100m for the 12 stars, which could enable room for a potential fourth signing.

Four players who could attract the biggest fees are Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. Selling a couple of that quartet could leave room for another incoming after a goalkeeper and striker.

But first United must raise enough in order to get Onana and Hojlund. Midfielders Fred and Donny van de Beek will be allowed to leave the club.

Anthony Elanga, Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Hannibal Mejbri could also all be on their way. Dean Henderson will also be allowed to leave once a goalkeeper is brought in.

United are still hoping to convince David de Gea to stay despite his contract expiring at the end of June. Tom Heaton’s exit has been blocked due to the mini goalkeeper crisis at the club.

It is a far cry from Ten Hag’s first window in charge at United. The club spent a record £220m last summer.

He faced restrictions in January and to his frustration was only able to bring in Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst on loan. United were able to finish in the Champions League qualification places, finishing third behind Arsenal.

Ten Hag was desperate for a big summer of recruitment ahead of the return to Europe’s elite club competition. He will be hoping whatever the club do is enough to compete on all fronts next term.
