Microsoft has some new products in the works for the Surface lineup, including a smaller 11-inch Surface Pro and an ARM-powered Surface Go 4. These — 11-inch Surface Pro and the ARM variant of Surface Go 4 might come later this year in the fall, reports Windows Central.
Along with a refresh to the 13-inch Surface Pro model, there is an 11-inch Surface Pro under development, codenamed Luxor, which will be similar to the Surface Go, in terms of shape and size. However, it will get the slimmer bezels of its larger counterpart. Moreover, the 11-inch Surface Pro will be more powerful, in line with its larger sibling, a 120Hz display, but it will still be priced similarly to the entry-level Surface Go.
The new Surface Go model, which is codenamed Tanta. This would be the first time a Surface Go line laptop will use an ARM processor in the Surface Go lineup. The entry-level model of the Surface Go 4 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 7c-based chipset, offering similar performance to the current Surface Go while improving power efficiency for longer battery life.
Asides an ARM chipset, the Surface Go 4 will have some minor design changes, but it will retain its smaller footprint. Further, the new Surface Go model would also support 5G. There will also be an Intel version available alongside this ARM one.
Microsoft’s piqued interest towards smaller laptops could be related to the recent changes made to Windows 11, which now has an updated tablet mode that works better on smaller screens.
These two products are expected to arrive this fall, probably in October, when Microsoft releases the new line of Surface products. Although, the plans could be prone to face delays. Microsoft had planned to ship the new Surface Go earlier this year, but eventually pushed it back.
