The broadcaster has announced that it will have exclusive rights to the US Open from 2023 to 2027. The tournament is set to start on August 28 next year.
It has penned a deal with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), with which it claims to have a long-time relationship. Sky will show the men’s and women’s singles, alongside coverage of Double’s, Mixed Doubles, Juniors, and Wheelchair competitions. It will have feeds of all courts.
The US Open was previously broadcast by Sky for 25 years between 1991 and 2015. They had the rights to Andy Murray’s triumph in New York in 2012.

Jonathan Licht, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “We are very excited to partner with the USTA once again to deliver the US Open, one of the greatest Grand Slam Tennis tournaments in the world.
“We have had a great history with the USTA and remember Andy Murray’s 2012 US Open win as one of the great moments on Sky Sports. This is another huge sporting event for our viewers, and we look forward to bringing tennis fans more of what they love and welcoming in new fans to the sport.”
Kirsten Corio, Chief Commercial Officer of USTA, added: “The USTA and Sky Sports have a long history together and it’s an exciting time to be partnering once again. We’re looking forward to showcasing the US Open to an increasing number of fans in the UK and Ireland over the next five years as the sport continues to grow and a new generation of stars emerges.”

The announcement comes just over a year after British teen starlet Emma Raducanu’s remarkable win at the US Open. Starting the tournament as a qualifier, she did not drop a set as she went on to become the first British woman to win a Grand Slam since Virginia Wade in 1977.
It is the latest marker in tennis’ growing reputation. On Wednesday, Netflix announced that its docuseries following some of the sport’s biggest stars will be available from January 13.
Break Point gives an insight into the lives of the likes of Iga Swiatek, Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas. It has been produced by the same company as Formula One series Drive To Survive.
