Test tickets to cost more this time | Cricket News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Cricket fans in the city who want buy tickets for the second Test between India and New Zealand to be held at the Wankhede Stadium from December 3-7, will have to shell out more than what they had to do when Mumbai last hosted a Test against England back in November 2016. In its Apex Council meeting on Wednesday, the Mumbai Cricket Association decided to increase the rates of tickets for the marquee clash by 25%, compared to the Test held five years ago.
The state government is likely to allow 50% crowd capacity for the match. “The ticket rates haven’t increased for a long time. Prices of things have gone up. On top of that, only 50% crowd may be allowed. Hence, we took this decision. However, this increase won’t apply in the case of the tickets allotted to the MCA’s affiliated clubs,” a source told TOI.
Talim Shield in T20 format
In a move aimed to prepare the city’s cricketers for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in November, the MCA, following a recommendation to this effect by its Cricket Improvement Committee, has decided to play the Talim Shield — the first local cricket tournament of the 2021-2022 season which is set to kick off on October 9 —in the T20 format. The tournament has traditionally has been a 45 overs-a-side affair.
In an email (TOI has a copy) on Monday to all its affiliated clubs, the MCA has written: “The senior selection committee has suggested using white balls and coloured clothing for the tournament, as it wants to see maximum players’ participation.”
