The Day Before Developer Fntastic Is Busy Changing Company Names for Its Other Games on Steam

The Day Before finally did release and within days of the game’s release, the studio shut down. Developer Fntastic announced that the game will not be receiving any future updates, and announced that they are also shutting shop. Now, fans have spotted that Fntastic has changed the name of the developer for other games from the studio to a different company on Steam, creating even more suspicion about this whole situation.

The Wild Eight game developer on Steam changed from Fntastic to The Wild Eight

The Wild Eight, a game that previously said Fntastic were its developers, now says on Steam that it was developed by Eight Points instead. Propnight, another Fntastic game, had its developer name changed from Fntastic to Mytona Fntastic, and then changed back to Fntastic, as spotted by X user BigfryTV. Radiant One is still listed under Fntastic on Steam, at the time of writing.

With The Day Before, Radiant One, and Propnight all listed under Fntastic’s name, it does raise questions about why The Wild Eight went through that change, and who exactly Eight Points is. Apparently, Fntastic went by the name of Eight Points before the company was changed to the now-closed studio, as spotted by an eagle-eyed Redditor. This change to The Wild Eight may be to preserve the ‘Mostly Positive’ all-time review rating on Steam for the game. The game already has a ‘Very Negative’ recent review score, so perhaps this is a damage-limitation move, as Dot Esports highlights.

However, some fans believe that this is a move from the developer to remove all traces, if there is a lawsuit filed against them.

Fntastic has actually been busy with removing all traces of its existence ever since announcing its closure. The studio’s social media accounts, Medium account, and even the CEO’s Twitter account have all been deleted.

It’s a monumental fall from grace for The Day Before which was once Steam’s most wish-listed game, and it is currently in Steam’s 10 worst-rated games list. The Day Before, advertised as an open-world MMO game actually turned out to be a survival horror extraction shooter, and a bad one at that. IGN gave it a 1 score out of 10 in its review and mentioned that “if you didn’t manage to try it, you can count yourself as one of the lucky ones.”
