The Exorcist: Believer Scares Its Way to the Top of the Domestic Weekend Box Office

The Exorcist: Believer has scared its way to the top of the domestic weekend box office with ticket sales in North America reaching $27.2 million.

As reported by Comscore, The latest Exorcist film brought in another $17.8 million internationally which helped bring its global tally to $45.0 million.

The Exorcist: Believer had the strongest opening for the franchise and was well above the $18.0 million 2004’s Exorcist: The Beginning earned in its debut. The original Exorcist film opened with $1.9 million in its first week back in 1973, and it went on to earn $441.3 million at the global box office.

In our The Exorcist: Believer review, we said, “Double the possession means double the problems for The Exorcist: Believer, which is a serviceable horror movie on its own merits, but a disappointing revival for a cornerstone of horror cinema.”

Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, which won the domestic weekend box office last weekend with ticket sales of $23 million, placed second with $11.7 million. The latest Paw Patrol film has earned $48.2 million overseas and $87.0 million globally.

Saw X followed and finished third with $8.1 million, The Creator placed fourth with $6.09 million, and The Blind rounded out the top five with $3.12 million.
