The Marvels Trailer Sparks New Theories as Fans Look for Clues and Details

The Marvels’ second trailer features new details and possible clues regarding the movie’s connection to the larger MCU, prompting theories from fans about the surprises that might be in store.

The footage offers insight into the context behind the apparent entanglement of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan’s respective abilities as it becomes clear that Zawe Ashton’s villainous Dar-Benn has interfered with the team, causing them to swap places any time they use their light-based powers.

The Marvels sees several characters return from a spectrum of MCU projects, including Ms. Marvel, which introduced Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. Vellani gets plenty of screen time in the new trailer alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris, but fans were distracted by her mysterious bangles and their importance to the story.

We learned in Ms. Marvel that the magic bangle worn by Khan activates something already within her. We later found out that she is a djinn, a new type of supernatural being for the MCU. However, there is something different about her genes, “like a mutation”, potentially opening the door for an X-Men introduction.

While viewers trawled the trailer with a fine-tooth comb looking for clues that could shed light on the bangles’ suspected ties to other MCU projects, they also discovered some blink-and-you’ll-miss-them details hidden within various shots, specifically those surrounding Captain Marvel’s ship and living quarters.

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson recently confirmed why Carol Danvers has been absent from Earth in the wake of the events of Avengers Endgame, explaining the overpowered superhero has been busy saving hundreds of other planets from threats and has become a “workaholic”, losing touch with her heart as well as her family and friends.

The Marvels will take flight on November 10.
