WhatsApp for iOS gets ability to listen to voice message when in different chat – Times of India

WhatsApp, as per a report last year, was working on a global voice note player that will allow users to play voice messages even after leaving the chat. The feature has now started rolling out to some users. As per WaBetaInfo — the online platform that tracks WhatsApp features, the global voice note player is available on WhatsApp beta for iOS.
What is the global voice note player feature on WhatsApp?
At present, a voice message stops when a user leaves a particular chat and returns to the chat list or opens another chat. With the new feature, the voice message will continue to play in the background, even if the user swipes back or opens a different chat. It must be noted that global voice note player is not the official name of the feature. WhatsApp has yet to confirm it.
As per the report, the feature is currently rolling out to some iOS beta testers, including WhatsApp Business beta. WhatsApp Messenger beta for iOS 22.1.72 and WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 22.1.72 are marked as compatible updates for the new feature. It is expected to have a wide rollout in the near future.
For Android users, the feature is still under development and there is no news about the release date.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has reportedly started to roll out the first beta update of this year for Android users. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the latest beta update comes with hidden references about a feature that will allow users to create Communities in future updates. According to the screenshots shared, a Community has a name and a description, as seen on a Group. After entering the name and the description, users will get an option to create a new Group or link up to 10 Groups.
